Essay / Satanism - 768
Secondly, Satanism is misunderstood for many reasons, including: the way the media portrays it, false accounts of Satanic ritual abuse, and people who claim the status of Satan without knowing exactly what satanism is. There are many accounts in which the media exaggerate certain cases. For example, in Hammond, Louisiana, there was a man named Pastor Louis Lamonica Jr. He was pastor of the town's local church, he also happened to be a psychopath and a rapist. The media claimed the man was a Satanist because he raped children in a church when in reality he thought that was what God wanted of him. The pastor was not alone in these horrific crimes, including his accomplices, his wife Robin, Austin Trey Bernard and Austin's wife Nicole Bernard. The group raped numerous babies and allegedly slaughtered animals in the name of Satan. However, there is no evidence to prove that this happened. The only reason the case was misinterpreted as a case of satanic ritual abuse is because Lammonica described the youth hall where they committed such terrible crimes as black and, as everyone knows, the Church of Satan flees the Black House. This case became so high profile that it was even the subject of an episode of HBO's True Detective. Of course, in the show it was much more gruesome and demonic than the actual event which did not involve the devil or Satanism in any form. He was just an average psychotic pastor who will spend the rest of his years in prison, which is far from invisible within the Church of God. Another example of the media exaggerating Satanism and turning it into a cult is the incident in Johannesburg, South Africa, where a young girl was murdered. The victim was only seventeen years old and was murdered by his classmates. The...... middle of paper ...... murder a tiger in the cemetery; The Kellers had murdered a man with a chainsaw. All of the children also admitted to being abused by their own parents. All of these stories were clearly obscene and did not happen. However, the Kellers were tried and imprisoned until 2012, when the therapist denied that the Kellers had actually done any of the things they were arrested for. The therapist must have been going through a horrible time with the fact that he just ruined the lives of two people and their children. It is a time like this when the death penalty must be reinstated. After being released, the Kellers have separated and are trying to live their lives as best they can. However, they will always remember how they were falsely accused and had to spend 21 years in prison. This is arguably the worst case of Satanic ritual abuse ever to occur in the history of Satanism..
