Essay / Leapreader Essay - 1284
Guilt and industry versus inferiority. The LeapReader can help develop initiative in a child if the child's parent is involved in the learning experience of this toy. If the parent expresses interest in what the child is learning and encourages the child by asking and answering questions the child may have, the child will feel safe and benefit greatly from this toy. If a parent gives the LeapReader to a child with the intention of not embarrassing them, the child will feel like a burden when asking questions and will therefore feel guilty for doing so. Children will also benefit from this toy by gaining reading skills. The knowledge that the child acquires outside of school should inspire his teachers and peers to encourage and compliment him on his skills, thereby increasing the child's level of activity and motivation.
