    Fear of noiseFear is a distressing emotion manifested by all living beings. Even animals show this emotion. The cause of fear is either external stimuli or internal stimuli. Pain, imminent danger, seeing or hearing something horrible are the stimuli. The threat or stimuli are real or imaginary. Fear is one of the major emotions like love, hate, anger, disgust and joy. Phonophobia or acoustic-phobia is the term used to refer to the fear of noise. What is phobia? It is an irrational, overwhelming, repetitive fear of something, someone or a place. There are different types of phobias like social phobia, specific phobia and agoraphobia. People with social phobia may not want to mingle in crowds because they feel unhappy, shy, and awkward. The fear of enclosed spaces such as a small room, a room closed by an elevator is agoraphobia. Fear of snakes, insects, dogs, cats, blood needles and noise. falls into the category of specific phobias. Fear of noise is a specific phobia that occurs when facing loud noises such as loud music, thunder, places where there are loud noises such as markets, auditoriums, schools and seasides.
