“Culture can be considered as the personality of an organization. It's about how things are done on a daily basis in a business. (Buchanan, D,. 2010, p.100) The culture of an organization can influence the way employees work, the way they treat their colleagues and their customers. Relevant organizational theories are used to influence an organization's culture because it encompasses an interlocking set of goals, processes, roles, values, communication practices, assumptions, and attitudes. (Frobes, 2013) The purpose of this essay is to gather appropriate evidence demonstrating that organizational theory influences the structure of an organization. Examples will also be presented as supporting evidence. There are four types of cultures an organization can fit into: power culture, role culture, task culture, and people culture. A culture of power involves power among the few, few rules and little bureaucracy and is primarily a culture followed by small businesses.
