There is without a doubt a major artist who certainly stands out in our world of pop culture. The name of this very famous American icon is Dolly Parton. Dolly has surpassed every rags-to-riches story that has ever lived. She touched the lives of so many over many decades through her many talents. Dolly began her career at a very young age and continued to pursue her life plans through country music, pop music and even acting. This American icon didn't just stop at her talents, she also contributed to our society through charity work, fundraising, and the creation of her own theme park. Dolly Parton grew up in a very poor family, but with a lot of dedication, she became the famous icon that everyone idolizes today. Dolly Parton's life began in Sevier County, Tennessee. She was the fourth of twelve children born to a poor tobacco farmer (Dolly). Even though her family was very poor, that didn't stop this bubbly little girl from pursuing her dreams. In fact, Dolly was able to turn the struggles faced by her family into inspiration for her songwriting. One of the most popular songs, "Coat of Many Colors", was written by Dolly about the true story of her mother sewing her a multi-colored coat made from rags. Not only did Dolly grow up singing and writing songs at home in the family's rustic one-room cabin, but she sang in church and by age ten she was performing in shows local television and radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee (Dolly). Dolly's parents saw the gift their daughter received and bought her a guitar when she was just ten years old. She taught herself to perform and not only sang in the public eye, but also played the guitar. If it wasn't already a... middle of paper open...... the victories throughout her singing and acting career are countless. Even Dolly's physical appearance and voice made such a statement in the entertainment world. There have even been many other artists who have tried to follow in her footsteps when it comes to fashion and image, but no one can achieve it like Dolly. I am sure that this famous pop culture icon is not yet done entertaining and bringing more to our society.
