  • Essay / Comparison of Jane Eyre, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast

    Many themes are brought to the attention of readers in Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë and when first reading the novel we all tend to see it as a work built around this theme. of family and Jane's continued search for home and acceptance. The love story seems to take a back seat and I think the special relationship between Jane and Mr. Rochester needs to be discussed and interpreted in depth, as it contains many captivating elements, such as mystery, passion or even betrayal . The purpose of this essay is to analyze the love story between the two protagonists and to illustrate how the elements that make up their relationship resemble those of fairy tales. Jane Eyre has often been compared to fairy tales like Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast and I believe this close connection to fantasy stories has a huge influence on the relationship between the main characters. The theme of love is discreetly introduced into the novel. from the beginning, when the reader becomes familiar with Jane's loved ones and the environment in which she experiences her early childhood. It is not difficult to notice that she is a neglected, abused and excluded child. She is never part of the Reed's activities and above all, the reader can observe the lack of family love that the protagonist experiences. Due to the rejection she constantly feels, Jane cannot really fit into the society of her loved ones and she always feels abandoned and, of course, alone. Never experiencing love may be one of the reasons why she can hardly imagine being in love. Leaving Gateshead, she discovers a whole new world in Lowood, where certain virtues are valued, but love is not one of them.
