    As digital natives age and technology improves, we wonder what the fate of libraries will be. The days of the card catalog are long gone, replaced by computers. There is no longer a need to go through stacks of books on the topic that sparked interest because the Dewey Decimal System is no longer taught. Gone are the days of shelves filled with books as far as the eye can see, swept away to make way for endless banks of computers, movies and CDs. The clicking of keys and chatter from private rooms used for multiple purposes are gradually replacing the dull flipping of pages as technology advances. With digital media becoming a staple for many libraries, restructuring libraries across the country is more important than ever. Definitions Digital Native: a person born in the age of computers and digital technology. Typically born after 1995. Libraries of the Future Over the past decade, the way humanity accesses information has changed. In “Libraries Reinventing Themselves as They Struggle to Stay Relevant in the Digital Age,” David Sarno chronicles these changes; and how our digital lifestyles affect these institutions. With the availability of high-speed internet on every device, any information imaginable is just a swipe or click away. Libraries are reinventing themselves by creating digital lending libraries, computer centers and even games rooms for younger generations. With digital access to almost all written works, libraries are seeing their circulation decrease; and are trying to find ways to adapt to today's digital lifestyles. With the invention of e-readers and electronic tablets, digital reading reached an all-time high; consumers can buy books, subscribe to magazines and newspapers and have the medium of paper...they struggle to stay relevant in the digital age.
