  • Essay / Cell Phones: The Takeover - 1135

There is no doubt that cell phones play a major role in the daily lives of Americans, but when the question of right or wrong comes to mind, we can only begin to think. Although some car accidents have been caused by the distraction of cell phones, they prove to be more beneficial than threatening. Designed to make communication more convenient, the cell phone has reinvented the American way of life, definitely for the better. The truth is that life has become more efficient, more convenient and more connected than ever thanks to the cell phone. Today, nearly 91% of Americans and 75% of American teenagers own a cell phone. Holly High School seniors Samantha Wilkinson, Kate Houtz and I conducted a survey of about 100 people asking them about their dependence on their cell phones, the cellular activities in which they participate the most and other related issues. It turns out that the most popular use for cell phones is texting. It has been argued that texting creates a huge distraction in the lives of teenagers, who take brief moments from school to text their friends, bosses and parents, ultimately posing a large amount of time. David Stanley, a longtime teacher at Holly High School, says that eleven years ago, students spent their free time in class scribbling on papers to distract themselves, whereas today, when students text , they not only distract themselves, but also others around them. Although texting can be a problem at school, it is easily preventable if students leave their phones turned off in their pockets or even in their lockers. Texting turns out to have one major advantage; When it comes to communication, parents can contact their children in the blink of an eye. Several anonymous surveys, conducted at the Great Lakes Outlet Mall, revealed that...... middle of newspaper...... twenty-three out of thirty-three people believe that cell phones have had a positive effect on the way to live American. life. Without them, our world would be lost in communications. Cell phones bring ease and convenience to our lives, making it possible to contact people all over the world in seconds, connecting our world entirely, wirelessly of course.
