Sensing is how we take in information from the world around us (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002). I think we can clearly see how being a sensor is beneficial to any member of the military. We rely on what we know, we make decisions based on intelligence, and we very rarely conduct operations without having facts to back us up. This is typical for a sensor; act on the basis of data, experiences and facts, rather than launching into the unknown (Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge, 2002). One of the downsides of being a sensor in my job is that you might not see the possible alternative outcomes of a mission if you only focus on the actual facts. Sometimes unexpected events happen.
