Essay / Juveniles Tried as Adults - 1188
There has always been controversy over whether or not juvenile criminals should be tried as adults. Over the years, more and more teenagers have been involved in committing crimes. In some cases, juries have been too harsh on teenagers. Trying teenagers as adults can have both positive and negative opinions. For example, detained adolescents can provide information about other crimes, impact social conditions, and serve as experiments; however, this can be negative because adolescents are not yet mature enough for this experience and are exposed to adult criminals; and they will lose access to education. One of the benefits of detaining teenagers as adults is that they are taken into custody and questioned for information about other clubs or gangs they may be involved with. Reports showed that gang violence declined in that neighborhood that year. Teenagers watch what I...... middle of paper ......g really affected by the outcome of the situation. By ending these harsh sentences against minors, it will give teenagers the chance of a lifetime to change paths. This way, they won't have to endure all these cruel punishments and be traumatized for life. Today, it is mainly parents who can control their children by monitoring their actions, but it is also up to juries to judge them with a lesser sentence or to teach them a lesson.
