Essay / Strangers on a Train by Alfred Hitchcock - 869
For my short essay assignment, I decided to write about Strangers on a Train, which is a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and released in 1951. story is about two strangers who meet on a train. These men were called Guy Haines and Bruno Anthony. Guy is a professional tennis player and he is married. His wife's name is Mariam, but he wants to divorce Mariam because he loves another woman. Bruno Anthony is the other stranger, slightly psychotic, hating his father and wanting to kill him. The film lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. Now in this article I will try to analyze the filming techniques, setting, suspense, camera shots, character plot and theme of Hitchcock. In Strangers on a Train, I think Guy is guilty because he wanted Miriam dead. On the other hand, guilt is the only thing that weakens Bruno. The audience sees that, in the senator's house during a party meeting, when Bruno saw Barbara, he felt guilty and confused because Barbra looked similar to Miriam when she wore her glasses. In general, Guy and Bruno oscillate between guilt and innocence, especially Bruno because he got no benefit, because Guy refused to kill Bruno's father, even though he killed Miriam and finally he died too. In this film, there are signs of Bruno's possible homosexuality. For example, in his gentle, slightly effeminate way of speaking when he says, “Guy, I can do anything for you. I like you." His preoccupation with his nails and his colorful shoes: all these behaviors would indicate that he is gay. As for Guy, it's really difficult to decide if he is gay or not. It depends on public interpretation Considering his weak relationship with Anna, perhaps we can classify him as gay On the other hand,...... middle of paper ......t understands. several themes, stylistic patterns and plot elements characteristic of Hitchcock's style The lighter was the most important object of this film. In general, Bruno is a very distracting character in this film and Guy is a very weak person,. he can't decide anything in his life. That's why Bruno starred in The Life of Guy. I wish Bruno couldn't reach for the lighter when he was feeling sweary, but he took it back. after several time trials However, after Bruno's death, the police discovered the lighter in his hand and Guy was not found guilty. In other words, in this movie, my view of Bruno was the same as Norman's in the Hitchcock movie Psycho. Works CitedWood, R. (1986). Spars in a train.
