John Galt's view on capitalism is that "mutual commerce provides mutual advantage" (Rand Atlas shrugged 989), just as there is a separation between the state and the Church, there should be a separation between the economy and the state. Communism, fascism, socialism, dictatorship and regulated capitalism can all violate a person's fundamental rights: however, capitalism respects and recognizes a person's right to control the product of their own mind. Ayn Rand created and used fictional characters and events that depict the only economy consistent with a person's rights and virtues. No one ever seriously tried to justify capitalism on moral grounds before Ayn Rand. Capitalism has always been considered immoral and a necessary evil. Economists often consider this because the main focus would only be on people who would be helped by the anti-capitalist society or the "needy". Ayn Rand presented capitalism with great taste and mastery throughout the book “Atlas Shrugged”, he repeatedly asked the question “At whose expense?” , like when the People's State of Mexico nationalizes the mine "Mines of San Sebastian", Ayn Rand clearly defines what is happening, A gang of looters steals the company for their own benefit. In today's society this is considered highly immoral, but in the novel is done for the "Public Good: and thus became a novel. Ayn Rand used hard-working heroines and heroes such as Dagny Taggart and Hank Reardon. Ayn Rand was able to present the situation that happened to the victims of the “needy”. Capitalism is the only economic system remotely comparable to individual freedom, as in many or all forms of economics a person, in one form or another, is a slave to the "public good." ...... middle of paper ......ion for their productivity, it's that simple. The society of “Atlas Shrugged” holds itself to a set of subjective norms because it is a mixed economy. Bureaucrats like Wesley Mouch have tried to give everyone the things they need based on their “needs,” but who defines need? What does it mean: a good job, education, house, food, car, two cars, etc. How far should the government go until it reaches the Soviet Union? This need in reality is defined as any special interest group having more clout in government. In terms of production: capitalism has proven to be the most efficient economic system, but only behind the moral economy. Ayn Rand showed in “Atlas Shrugged” that, by its very nature, capitalism is freedom: the freedom for everyone to do what they want with their minds and efforts, and the freedom to live..
