  • Essay / Compare and Contrast Snow White and Cinderella

In Snow White, she does not serve as a servant to her stepmother, but must escape her envious stepmother in order to survive. She then lives in the forest with seven dwarves who take care of her after she was abandoned in the forest. However, Snow White is still seduced three times by her stepmother. This shows that Snow White is vulnerable because she trusts a stranger easily. Additionally, the way Snow White is saved by the prince is different from Cinderella because she is saved after being buried in a glass coffin. Her envious stepmother is punished by fire when she attends the wedding of Snow White and the Prince. On the other hand, Cinderella lives with her stepmother and her two stepsisters who mistreat her. She cannot escape their curse and is treated like a servant. She meets the prince before going to the ball when he tries to steal her father's horse. She is not allowed to go to the ball, but her childhood friend helps her. She is saved by the prince when she puts on her slipper, and her wicked stepmother and older stepsister are punished by the king to work as laundresses for the rest of their lives.
