Essay / Understanding the Impact of Responsibility in Life
Responsibility is the act of knowing where something or someone is at any given time. This is crucial in today's business environment for several different reasons. Corporations, businesses, and just about anything that is used to represent a group of people or has some sort of image that they need/want to uphold must remain accountable for many different things. Whether it's the equipment he uses to do his job or the employees who help customers and complete the work that needs to be done. Ultimately, a job has to be done by someone and if the job is in high demand, it is crucial to control where things are located so that when something needs to be done, everything can fall into place. Is well known as one of, if not the largest company/organization in the world. In 2017, the projected strength of the armed forces was 1,281,900 military personnel. Not to mention the 801,000 other people spread across the seven components of the reserve. What do such numbers mean? It's simple. This means that there are well over 2 million people who could be anywhere at any time. This is a perfect example of the critical importance and effectiveness of accountability. For example, let's say a single unit of around 400 soldiers needs to be in a given location in a given amount of time. Throw away all the procedures, preparations, orders for doing things. Let's focus strictly on a group of soldiers being moved from point A to point B. Things happen and the time limit expires. A count of soldiers is carried out. What happens? Less than half of the total number of soldiers are there. Out of a total of 400 soldiers, only 148 showed up. Present and accounted for. Ok… Where are everyone else? This is where things start to go wrong. The group was needed to intercept an enemy group of approximately 268 individuals. Not only are the soldiers outnumbered, but they no longer know if the reason for their troops' disappearance could be due to enemy ambushes. Perhaps the enemy already knows exactly where he is and is downsizing to eliminate each soldier one by one with guerrilla tactics. No one knows where the other soldiers are, which means there is a lack of information. Or rather a lack of information. Information that not only crippled the mission, but also endangered the remaining soldiers who arrived where they were supposed to be at the scheduled time. Without information, the commander in charge of the operation must make decisions about whether or not the mission can be accomplished. This story is just one example of how situations can become dangerous because responsibility for something, in this case someone, could affect others who were actually doing what they were supposed to do. It's unsettling to know that even if you do the right thing, you could find yourself in danger yourself. This is just one point of view. Maybe the mission was accomplished. No doubt it has been made much more difficult not knowing who knows what and accepting the lack of one's own knowledge, but this is the Army and we are not known for backing down when the going gets tough. We adapt and make changes to do the job to the best of our abilities. As I mentioned before, making sure you know where someone or something is can be crucial at all times. The previous example thatI had given focused more on 2 things rather than one. Not knowing where the soldiers were and also the implications that could be drawn from not knowing where they were. I would like to redirect this focus somewhat to give an example of what could happen when not having tools and/or equipment on hand could also be just as dangerous to show its importance. A tool is nothing without someone or something to wield it. I would also not fully focus on military situations. I would also like to broaden the scope of possibilities to more common situations. We're getting closer to that time of day. Everything was planned weeks in advance. Everyone knew what to do and where to stand. The lights were dimmed and the room was getting quieter and quieter. No one was visible. The line of sight had been broken and everyone was waiting. Their hearts began to race as seconds began to feel like minutes, minutes seemed like hours. Your own heart felt like it was beating against your chest with a thousand forces. The sweat dripping from your forehead. But none of this was out of fear or pressure. It was excitement. Taking a breath that, to you, sounded like a groan, like someone had just read the most boring speech and some random person was asking for it to be reread because they had fallen asleep partially. That’s when the real moment arrived. The sound of the door triggers slammed and turned before stopping abruptly. A metallic jingle echoed through the wall as you thought keys were being used to unlock it. The door opened normally and the next second the lights came on. It was your goal to hit!!! "SURPRISE!!!" The sound of birthday horns and confetti erupts from everyone hiding. The guest of honor was probably shocked, even surprised, to see so many people entering his room while the door was locked, but that information could wait for another time. Everyone gathered around and congratulated them on this wonderful day. That's when it happened. “So, what kind of cake did you have?” » The festive cheers and chatter in the room quickly began to quiet down as they turned to you. The one who takes care of everything. The planer. The one who spent weeks doing everything as well as possible... "Well?.." Your face turns slightly pale. The key point of an average party. The one around which everyone gathers to sing the famous song. Disappeared? Your mind goes into a rapid panic. But the race, thought after thought. What happened? What have I done? Where did I put it? You find a good answer. “Haha.” The nervousness in your voice was somewhat evident, if only because of the long pause you took before speaking. “It’s in the back. I had to keep it safe before taking it out. The room laughs and continues to discuss. That's when you slide backwards. Look on the counters, the refrigerator, the pantry, anywhere a cake would normally be. But nothing. You find the candles and the lighter but this cake escapes you. Weeks of planning. In the end, you barely remembered buying a cake because you knew baking wasn't your forte so to speak. GOOD. What can you do? You failed to figure out where you put something and not just that it was something pretty important. You traced your steps back as far as you could and even checked all the places that would make the most sense for the cake. Just when you were about to.
