  • Essay / Student Activities in Extracurricular Activities

In Catherine T. Flaga's (2006) research, “The Transition Process for Community College Transfer Students,” she explains the importance of career clubs because “they provide information about internships and career opportunities. and serve as resources on the academic field, which helps solidify students’ interest in the field (p.8).” The clubs also help students acquire various skills both academically and in the job market. Grace Chen (2015) of the College Review writes, "In addition to helping develop practical skills [...], extracurricular activities allow students to 'test the waters' and explore new areas of interest" ( p.1). Clubs are important to a student's success, not only in the classroom, but also in turning what they have learned into practical experience. While clubs are gateways for students' academic and social growth, student unions are the glue that keeps livelihoods together.
