Civil disobedience essentially begins with a nonviolent uprising proposing to change an unjust law. This act of disobedience involves saying that what the law proposes violates the right of a person or group to be protected by the law. Authority figures who represent the law must then gain access and control the matter. However, the manner in which authority figures take control of the situation can also constitute a form of additional rights violations. Often, participants are arrested, fined, and even encouraged to abandon what they stand for. Police officers represent power and they use that power to scare and work hard.
