Essay / Extrinsic Motivation - 1287
Motivation is defined as internal motivation that encourages action or feeling toward a desired goal. It moves forward and does not remain static. A person's efforts are energized, directed and sustained towards the achievement of his or her goal. It is a fundamental desire that begins with a physiological or psychological need that triggers behavior aimed at a goal or incentive. For example, hunger motivates the need for food. Desires and goals are the inherent force that drives us to act, act, or plan to achieve them. The processes that give force and purpose to behavior are needs, cognitions, emotions, and external events. Reeve (5th edition). Motivation is about understanding what causes behavior, what triggers the behavior, why a person does something and why the behavior stops, and what forces determine the intensity of the behavior. There are different types of motivation that influence us on a daily basis and which have different effects from the short term to the long term. As human beings, we are inspired in different ways by different motivations. There are two main types of motivation: intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Sciberras (Conference 2013-2014). Intrinsic motivation is an inner strength such as pride, responsibility, conviction and a sense of accomplishment. For example, for students who enjoy a challenge, they will have an intrinsic motivation to work hard, take courses, and do research in the field they are interested in in order to excel in their chosen field. It is also about satisfying psychological needs, that is, autonomy, competence and belonging. These are needs for belonging to a relationship and social interaction within the community. Sciberras (Conference 2013-2014). The functions of intrinsic motivation are:1. Pe...... middle of paper ...... different situations. It is powerful to motivate people using intrinsic motivation because the influence lasts longer. Intrinsically motivated people feel satisfaction when the desired goal is achieved. Not everyone has intrinsic motivation to achieve the goals they want to achieve, as it depends on their personal interests and choices. Scriberras (Conference 2013-2014). Extrinsic motivation is easier to use because it contains a mixture of rewards, pain, fear and pleasure to motivate others or ourselves. Additionally, extrinsic motivation can be effective by using its movement away from or toward motivation. For motivations to be effective, it helps to try the different types of motivation in different circumstances in which we find ourselves. Changes come from us, so it is motivating to be around positive people to be inspired, motivated and encouraged. Scriberas (Conference 2013-2014)
