Essay / Essay on Australia A Classless Society - 708
Schools in all regions differ from each other, from the lack of resources to the level of education received “You swim like a public school boy” ( Arvanitakis 2009). Educational opportunities are available to schools in certain regions and certain statuses in society, and those who are privileged and wealthy tend to get the best schooling and receive the best education due to the wealth of their parents or their family. This determines where the child will receive schooling and what type of schooling. The richest Australians use their wealth to their advantage and know they have the power to choose the school of their choice. “If your parents could afford to send you to a private school – which is much better funded than poorer public schools – there is a good chance you would have access to better resources than at a public school” (Arvanitakis 2009 ). Status and education can determine your success and status in society and without wealth you may be deprived of appropriate resources.
