The past may prepare the future, but dreams create the direction it leads. When I was little, I suffered from painful ear infections, which led to deafness before the age of two. I regained my hearing after the operation, but I couldn't speak. I was in speech therapy for years. Besides being ostracized by my peers due to my speech difficulties; professors put me on a pedestal and considered my work the standard for everyone. I was constantly separated from my classmates. The adversity I have experienced in life has made me stronger and allowed me to recognize my desire to work in the medical field as a pharmacist. I understand how adversity can shape a person. After years of therapy, I overcame my difficulty speaking, but I still felt distant from my classmates. Instead of focusing on interacting with them, all my efforts went towards my academics, which reinforced my shyness around others. Teachers noticed the dedication and responded accordingly.
