Well, first of all, you're in 8th grade now, so obviously you're going to learn advanced things because it's your last year in elementary school, and who doesn't don't like learning and discovering new information? You also learn concepts that are not academic. For example, responsibility, organization, how to be more social with others, how to successfully overcome obstacles like difficult subjects, and much more. Second, be prepared to take on a workload at school and at home. The 8th grade program is advanced and more challenging, you risk failing if you fall behind and don't feel like catching up on your work to make up for it. The 8th grade curriculum can also be fun if you keep up with the work, you won't have tons of homework every day. Finally, one of the best things about 8th grade is that you learn a lot of amazing things with your friends while learning them too. So when you get home you can discuss all the interesting things you learned together, you can test each other. Friends can help you pick yourself up when your grades drop.
