IntroductionKarl Marx is recognized as a master of philosophical criticism; such a statement can be proven justifiable in one of his most notable works entitled Das Kapital in German or Capital: Critique of Political Economy. It is important to understand the roots in which Karl Marx based his desire to discover, as well as respond to his curiosities regarding philosophical ideas. Marx devoted thirty years of his time to developing a critical analysis that reveals the economic laws and reality of the capitalist system and mode of production. Marx's goal was not simply to reveal the nature of the capitalist economy and system, he aimed to reveal the social and historical forces that influenced and shaped the relationships between society within and outside outside the realm of commerce. HistoryKarl Marx was born on May 5, 1818 in Trier, Kingdom of Prussia. The third of nine children, he received a private education until he enrolled at the Trier high school at the age of 12. At the age of 17, Marx enrolled at the University of Bonn. His father persisted in the idea that Marx studied law because of its practical nature. , Marx felt the need to study philosophy and literature. However, the University of Bonn had a reputation for harboring a rebellious and vigorous culture. Marx spent two semesters in prison due to his drunkenness and public disorder (Biography, 2013). Marx then moved to Berlin and studied law and philosophy at the University of Berlin, where he discovered his passion for the philosophical ideas of GWF Hegel. Marx became involved with the Young Hegelians, a radical group of students known at the time for criticizing political and religious ideas and foundations (Biography, 2013).
