Essay / Writing, Family and Reading - 646
To be successful, it is very important to create ritual in all aspects of life. Following the same steps to do something may seem boring, but sometimes routine is very effective in achieving goals. Two semesters ago, I didn't think being organized or doing things like lists could be important. Due to my poor behavior towards schoolwork, I had an embarrassing moment in my writing class. It was seven in the morning and the sun was rising over the horizon. It was Monday, so I had to wake up and go to school. I stretched under my white sheets thinking I still had time to stay in bed for another hour. Suddenly, I sat up in bed and realized something: “Oh my God, I didn't finish my essay for my writing class! I said out loud. Seven twenty, and I only had forty minutes to write a full essay. I ran to the bathroom, washed my face and sat down on the desk full of books. Then I tore a sheet of paper from my notebook, took a pen, and started writing the essay. Surprisingly, my ideas were flowing faster than usual and what I thought was impossible was starting to take shape. When it was ten minutes to eight, I finished the essay. I had to see him again and that would be it, I thought. Then I started getting ready for school. I grabbed all my materials from the desk and left for school. It was eight thirty and I was already late. Class started at eight forty-five and driving to school took over twenty minutes with morning traffic. Along the way, I listened to the ratio, drove and ate what I picked up at home. Other than my car, everything seemed normal. Construction of the new highway was almost complete and traffic was less heavy. When I came to col...... middle of paper ......do or where to go because my aunt was still working. One day, I discovered that my aunt had a copy of “The Little Prince” in her library. I picked it up and started reading it. I was lying on my cousin's bed. I was reading aloud and around me were his toys as if they were listening. It was the end of October and on the street, all the leaves on the trees were on the ground. This time it was different, I loved and understood every page of the book, and at the same time I felt very close to my family. Since that moment, my life has changed. Now my family is with me and we live in Miami. I have a job and go to college. I have read more than twenty books. I learned that if I don't understand something or someone, that doesn't mean it's bad; that means i need to gain more experience and be interested in learning and discovering new things.
