Motivating People at WorkIntroductionWhen we need to explore the extent to which motivation theory is useful in understanding what motivates people at work, we need to understand the meaning motivation. motivation is a state occurring in processes internal and external to the individual, in which the person perceives that it is appropriate to pursue a certain course of action aimed at achieving a specified outcome and in which the person chooses to pursue these outcomes with a degree of vigor and persistence. (Rollinson, D., 2008.) However, during this process motivation will be defined in different ways, motivation is an internal state or condition that serves to activate or energize behavior and give it a direction that is an internal state or condition that activates the behavior. and gives it direction; desire or desire that energizes and directs goal-directed behavior; influence of needs and desires on the intensity and direction of behavior. (Huitt, W. 2011) So researchers began to create different theories to explain this process. There are two theories of motivation from content theory and process theory. There is Alderfer's ERG theory and Adam's equity theory. The task of this essay is to explore the extent to which motivation theory is useful for understanding what motivates people at work. Results and Discussion Section At the beginning, we must first distinguish the difference between Alderfer's ERG theory and Adam's theory. Alderfer's ERG theory was developed by psychologist Clayton Alderfer. He created a new model to explain the simultaneous nature of Maslow's five needs. He first published this model in a 1969 article titled "An Empirical Test of a New Theory of Human Needs." (MindTools...... middle of article ......eds. Alderfer's work suggests that growth needs are actually greater when they are satisfied, whereas Maslow argued that when Once it is satisfied, a need becomes less important to an individual (Bratton, J., 2015), on the other hand, the strength of Adams's equity theory is that it constitutes a good tool. use in organizations to examine and understand employee behaviors However, its weakness lies in its limitations used only to think about the fair in relation to the associated object. in the workplace, I prefer to think which theory will be better in that particular situation, different theories used in different situations will have different results. and understand their strengths and weaknesses, in order to use them in a good workplace..
