Essay / Comparison of Judaism and Christianity - 1015
People should practice peace and non-violence, returning good for evil and love for suffering (which Jesus did). This leads to a particular conception of justice, called “divine justice”, in cases of crime, of redemption. Although agape love is certainly a noble ideal, it is an unstable equilibrium and an easy victim of the "prisoner's dilemma" in which the best alternative for a group of people is not the best alternative for every person in the group. In other words, strict adherence to the agapeist ideal only works if everyone follows it. If there are selfish people who take advantage of altruism.
