  • Essay / Mystery in the Novels of John Connolly - 1405

    John Connolly is a modern detective fiction writer who uses imagery, tragic events, and characterization to draw the reader into his mysteries.John Connolly is a native of Dublin, England. Ireland, where he was born in 1968. He mostly chooses to keep his personal life and information about his childhood and adolescence private. His assistant, Clair Lamb, helped fill in some gaps in John Connolly's life story. Connolly had only one brother and his father did not die. (Lamb, 2014). However, her mother, in her early 80s, is still active, despite her age. (Lamb, 2014) After high school, Connolly continued his education by studying English at Trinity College. While studying at Trinity College, he obtained a student visa which allowed him to travel to the United States. (Nolan, 2002). The first place he went was Delaware for a summer job. (Nolan, 2002). Shortly after arriving, Connolly discovered his dissatisfaction with the place and left as soon as possible. (Nolan, 2002). Connolly found his way to Maine and Main found his way to his heart. Much like author Stephen King, Maine's forests sparked Connolly's imagination and served as the setting for many of his novels. (Nolan, 2002) After graduating from Trinity College, Connolly studied journalism at Dublin City University. Throughout his life, Connolly experimented with several different career paths, such as journalism, politics, waiting, bartending, and working as a junior worker in a department store located in London, England called Harrods. Gaining real-world experience gave Connolly a deeper insight into the potential characters in his novels.
