  • Essay / Reflection Paper on the Role of Women in My Life - 1051

They didn't seem to think they needed to take this course. It was almost as if they didn't think they needed to know how to be parents. Like they think it's not their job to know how to parent because they're not a woman. Again, why? Why don't men realize that it's not just a woman's job to know how to be a parent? When it was my turn to care for the “newborn,” I worried about the reactions of others, especially boys, in my classes. He was a pretend baby, so he made noise and cried when he needed to be changed, fed, etc. Every time the baby made a cooing sound, the guys in my class would jump or move away from him. Even though it was a fake baby, they didn't know how to handle it and looked to me to do what I was supposed to do. It's just another way the gender stereotype has come into my life.
