The company I chose to do my case analysis on is Dell Computers. Many businesses start very aggressively but end up collapsing either because of competitors or poor strategic management. Dell Computer entered the market with a strong strategic vision and stronger strategic management. One of Dell's greatest strengths is its simple business concept of building built-to-order personal computers and selling them directly to its customers. This simple notion gives Dell several competitive advantages over its competitor. One, it's bypassing distributors and retailers, which has eliminated reseller markups, and two, build or order has significantly reduced the costs and risks associated with carrying large inventories of unnecessary inventory. As a major competitor in the personal computer market, Dell's emphasis on manufacturing efficiency and a direct marketing approach allows the company to continue to gain ground on the competition. Dell was founded in 1984 by Michael Dell, a college student. in medicine who also had a hobby of building computers. He decided to sell the product of his hobby and started the business from his dormitory. Business quickly took off and today ranks among the largest computer systems companies in the world. As CEO of Dell Computer Corp., he started the company with just 1,000 employees and grew it into a multibillion-dollar computing giant. Dell Computer was first known as PCs Limited in 1984, selling PC components and PCs under the PCs Limited brand. Dell's strategy was to sell directly...paper......Increasing growth in the economy is an opportunity for Dell to increase its market share, as well as its production. Most of Dell's revenue comes from large companies; a growing economy would stimulate demand for production. In conclusion, for Dell to successfully compete in today's industry, it must take advantage of all of the above opportunities. Consumers are increasingly demanding and price sensitive. The next generation of products must be consistent with relevant trends affecting the industry today.
