    Obama did a good job of sprinkling logos throughout his speech. Logos is the rhetorical means used to appeal to reason. This is a very important rhetorical tool because it can introduce factual foundations for an individual's argument. Mrs. Obama uses logos to present shocking childhood obesity figures. An example of Mrs. Obama using logos is when she said, “Today in America, one in three children is overweight or obese” (Obama 420). This statistic gives some perspective on childhood obesity. If someone stood in front of a crowd and said a lot of kids are obese, the audience has no idea how many kids are obese and doesn't know if it's really a big deal. By stating that one third of American children are obese, it lets the public know how many children are overweight or obese. Another example where Mrs. Obama used logos was when she said, "A study found that African Americans ate 32 percent more fruits and vegetables for each additional supermarket in their community."
