ICT and people with special needs Many people have disabilities, but ICT can help them in many ways. ICT can provide these people with more opportunities in life through the wide range of specially designed computing equipment. There are people with sensory impairments. People with sensory impairments include people who are partially blind and those who are totally blind. Being blind can make even the simplest job, such as reading letters and invoices, a daunting task. They might need a video magnifier. Even going to the local supermarket would be difficult as you might stumble upon things. Blind people can also use a special keyboard called a braille keyboard to enter data into the computer. Sensory disabilities also include people who are deaf and those who cannot speak clearly. There are technologies to help them, such as spell checkers, touch screens, voice recognition systems, predictive word processors and an overlay keyboard. There are also people with physical disabilities. A physical disability affects a person's mobility. Voice-activated systems are available to feed data into the computers of people whose disability has affected their writing. People also have learning difficulties. Someone who has learning difficulties has a harder time learning than others. Everyone learns in different ways. Learning disabilities can affect the way people read, for example dyslexia and the way people write. Unfortunately, people can have more than one disability, multiple disabilities. If mobility is a problem, you can use the Internet to complete simple tasks without leaving home. You can do your shopping, order from the middle of paper...... ps without any handicap. The most popular technologies among those mentioned above are: email, stair lifts, online ordering and modified software. There are many places that help people with limited mobility such as stores, cinemas, stores and many other places. They have provided larger spaces for wheelchair access, disabled parking, disabled toilets. Technology is getting bigger and there will be many more ways to help people with disabilities make life a little easier. Also with newer technologies there are problems but we can solve them by asking for help but with these technologies they tell you everything you need to know and put on a CD or even a DVD. There are many technologies that help people with reduced mobility. in the future there will be many more to come.
