    Have you ever thought that a simple board game like Risk could be linked to something as supreme and substantial as the Roman Republic? The Risk board game is a turn-based strategy game in which players attempt to expand their empire and dominate the world. Players hope to gain power by conquering territories and strengthening their army. To gain land, participants in the game must roll dice and get a higher score than the defender of the territory. Often territory is disputed, but other times the land is too strong to conquer. Strategies are used to help fortify, expand, and protect empires. The Roman Republic (509 BC – 27 BC) was extremely powerful thanks to a large and strong army with many territories. Rome began as a small city-state and grew into an ascendant republic. The Roman Republic's strategies included aggression, strong border territories, and alliances. When playing the game, risk, power, conquest, and strategy play a vital role in success; similarly, the Roman Republic used these concepts to fortify and expand its territory. To win the game, risk, power is a key factor. To gain power, players must have a lot of land, wealth, and strength. All players start equal and over time empires will begin to grow or fade. Emerging empires usually fight for power. Eventually one empire will dominate others and use aggression to dominate. Players with powerful empires get many matching cards when conquering and usually dominate entire continents. Additionally, powerful players in Hettwer 2 will appear indomitable and can make their opponents fear any move. Taking lots of risks and resorting to aggression is a strategy that often works to gain power. Strategies play a key role in defeating Risk and the Roman Republic used a myriad of tactics to gain power and land. To conclude, the Roman Republic flourished in its time, and it is important to know what the Romans did during their republic because even today, similarities are made there.
