  • Essay / Reflection on diplomacy - 1191

Let us take as an example the case of South Korea (ROK) and North Korea (DPRK). These two countries can be a good example that shows why lack of interaction leads to incomplete diplomacy, even if both countries deliver the official speech. Two nations located on the same peninsula use almost the same language. The differences between two languages are considered the differences of the standard language and dialect. Everyone in every nation, even young children, can recognize what the opposing country has said to them. If the DPRK broadcasts aggressive content on its broadcasts, people in the Republic of Korea may understand this as a threat to them. On the other hand, the people of the DPRK view this statement as a way to strengthen their own country's position in international society. In this case, there was an official remark, and citizens of both countries understand the meaning of the speech, although they accept the same comment differently. Therefore, they have already satisfied certain diplomatic factors; However, we cannot define this situation as diplomacy, because the DPRK made a unilateral statement, ignoring the country's position.
