Claudius: Guilty or innocent? Hamlet by William Shakespeare is a play that tells the story of a young man, Hamlet, who wanted revenge for the death of his father. After speaking with his father's spirit, Hamlet was led to believe that the person who murdered his father was his uncle, Claudius. Claude kills his brother mainly because of jealousy, the crown, the queen and hatred of his brother. Therefore, Claudius is guilty of murdering his brother. Claudius killed his brother mainly because he was jealous that his brother did it. He had his kingdom, a beautiful queen (Queen Gertrude) and his son (Prince Hamlet) who would have taken over the kingdom when he died if Claudius, his own brother, had not killed him. We can see evidence of Claudius' jealousy when Claudius hands a piece of paper to Cornelius and Voltemand. Furthermore, Claudius says: "Even though the memory of the death of Hamlet, our dear brother, is green, and it becomes us to bear our hearts in sorrow, and all our kingdom be contracted in one brow of unfortunately, so far we have discretion. fought with nature as we with the memory of ourselves (p. 21)." There he says that his brother's death in memory is green, which perhaps means the green-eyed monster of jealousy. He couldn't stand to see his brother happy so he decided to kill him. Claude feels guilty for killing his brother. We can see Claude's remorse when he talks to God and gives his monologue about his murder. Therefore, Claudius says: “My greatest guilt is against my strong intention (p. 165)” This quote proves that Claudius realizes that he has made a mistake and that he also realizes that. 'he can't leave everything behind as much as he wants to. Everything reminds him of his brother, the kingdom, the queen and the crown Claudius is no better now that he has killed King Hamlet. the proof when Claudius delivers his soliloquy says: “Forgive me my vile murder This cannot be the case, since I am still in possession of the effects for which I committed the murder: My crown, my own ambition? and my queen (p..
