Essay / The Software Localization Process - 1713
IntroductionIn the age of technology, it has become much easier for businesses to expand globally. Businesses with websites and apps are becoming more and more common. As you can imagine, different countries and cultures tend to like and dislike different things. When it comes to languages, even the same speaking countries tend to differ in terms of dialect and have tendencies. The process of software localization involves adapting software to the cultural, linguistic and technical requirements of a target market. Localizing a product can be very laborious and time-consuming. As a result, the cost can range from $50,000 to $500,000 per language. Localization normally begins during the software development stages. Localization should normally end when the product is released. The final product may result in changes to the language, currencies and technical operation of the software. The goal is that the new market can use the software as easily as the original market. Phases of Localization When it comes to the process of localization, three phases are involved, namely: 1. Pre-localization phase2. Localization phase3. Post-localization phasePre-localization phaseIn the pre-localization phase, the goals and objectives are defined. The localization process can become very complicated and tedious. Determining the exact requirements is very important because it provides a clear understanding of what the product needs to do. Once this becomes clear, it is best to look at the software architecture. Programs tend to use directories to read strings and resources. Creating a directory for a different country can mean just a simple change of the name...... middle of paper .......
