Essay / Walmart Case Study - 1347
Although Sam's decided to close, Walmart decided to offer a 24-hour sale online and in-store starting at 6 a.m. Thursday morning. This really confused me in my research, mainly because Sam's West, Inc. is an American chain owned and operated by Walmart, making Walmart its parent company. Sam's is named after Walmart founder Sam Walton. I can understand why many warehouse stores have decided to sell clothing. The article on Blackfriday.com states that neither Sam's nor its rival Costco have opened their doors, emphasizing that this is a time for family. Sam's Club made the decision to close again this year based on feedback from the company and its members. According to spokesperson Tara Raddohl, closing on Thanksgiving and maintaining the club's regular hours after Thanksgiving rather than opening early was what members and management wanted. Raddohl said: “As an alternative, members can start their Black Friday savings Thursday evening online at samsclub.com.” Given that it is a warehouse store filled with great brands at incredible prices, respecting customer reviews while providing alternatives like shopping.
