  • Essay / Portfolio Reflection - 1375

As I wrote my second essay, I began to realize that most of my earlier elaboration skills consisted of more complex, image-provoking diction. When I thought back to other essays I had done in high school and early college, I realized that I had a broader vocabulary than I had previously thought, it made me It took this course to realize it. In my definition essay, most of the vocabulary seemed to just be more basic medical terminology, whereas, like in my analysis essay, the vocabulary was more visible. In this essay I use phrases such as "crucial protocols for survival" and "a simple article on first aid techniques, without any other superfluous information", which I believe show a small snippet of the vocabulary that I used. This is also shown in my Titanic essay where I explained the medical aspect by describing the "dysfunctions of the hypothalamus of the affected individual". Although my vocabulary may be small for some, I believe I have developed a varied and decent-sized vocabulary, mainly due to the research carried out in this context.
