To date or not to date a multicultural girl? That is the question. Nowadays, one of the hardest things to do in our life is to find the right girl for us. We all know that we live in an ethnic country, that racism no longer makes sense. Junot Diaz is a Dominican-American writer who wrote "How to Date a Brown Girl, a Black Girl, a White Girl, or a Half-Girl", whose textual analysis contains a multicultural. In this story we can point out many different parts, which he talks about how to date a multicultural girl. According to Junot Diaz's story, ethnicity is one of the main factors that causes men to treat their opposite sex differently; however, because of his choice of words, being offensive to my culture, and trying to atone for how he also made offensive remarks toward white people. When someone reads this story, they first see that his word choice is not as formal as it should be given that Diaz is a creative writing teacher, but when you look at it from closer, you can see what he meant by saying those words and using that language. In the story, it started with how the guy is trying to trick his mother so that he can stay and spend time with the girl who is coming soon. But it doesn't specify who the girl is, what she looks like, what her ethnicity is, etc. So by doing this he makes us think about who is this girl and why is he trying so hard to get her mother to leave the house. And in the second paragraph of the story, he mentions, “Remove the government cheese from the refrigerator” (Diaz 1). By saying this he is trying to say that he is speaking to the majority of the lower middle class. This also means that the main character is a guy who comes from a lower middle class...... middle of paper...... cultures, have different rules. You have to be brave and smart with your plan to make it happen. Also when he talked about white girls and how they are really easy to get along with. This story was a great example of a multicultural text, which brought all cultures together. Making jokes always brings joy and laughter to people, but making fun of their culture is another thing. Jonat Diaz used this element to enhance his story by making connections between himself and his audience. By making fun of them, he tried to get closer to them. These days, this is how we get closer to each other. It's a brutal world where making fun of each other brings us closer together.
