  • Essay / The physical reality and assurance of the resurrection in...

In 1 Corinthians 15, this is the most important chapter in the Bible, where the resurrection is the main subject discussed. This section of 1-26 speaks of the physical reality and assurance of the resurrection. Even though Paul is basically trying to prove that the resurrection exists, he is primarily trying to say that Christians will be resurrected. In this passage, Paul tries to resolve the problems the Corinthians were facing based on the resurrection of the deceased. Paul used vital information and personal experiences in this passage to prove that resurrection occurs not only in Christ but also in man. He first uses sections 3-11 to try to explain how vital the gospel is to understanding the resurrection and its historical significance. Paul shows all his confidence in the gospel because of the facts of Jesus' resurrection. The second section shows Paul trying to explain the repercussions if the resurrection did not exist. He explains that all the apostles would have a false testimony and that they would still live in their sins. However, he ends the passage by combining Christ and the resurrection of man and says that Christ is the first of many men to be resurrected. In 1 Corinthians 15, the author reflects on the main argument for the truth of Christianity, namely that there is a resurrection and the truth of the religion itself. This may have been important to the author because of those who did not believe the Scriptures and their attempts to refute what was written in the Scriptures. What was not clear in this passage is whether death is physical or spiritual? I believe there is reference to both but I believe the author is mainly referring to spiritual death and the fact that when we die our spirits are resurrected, as was J...... middle paper ......us is the firstfruit of those who do not sleep, which harkens back to the Old Testament as people were advised to give the first of all to God. This therefore means that Jesus is the first of the dead to be resurrected, and that other resurrections will follow. In this section he refers to the death of a human being and how all die in Adam, so that all are made alive again in Christ. Adam was the cause of the death of man's physical life because he ate of the tree of knowledge. Before this, Adam did not know the difference between good and evil, but after eating an apple from the tree of knowledge, he learned the difference between good and evil, which created the ability to sin. In sections 24-26, Paul finishes the passage. by sharing with readers the truth behind the resurrection and that all will be brought back to Christ, including spiritual death.
