In the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus deserves the title of true hero by conveying many qualities such as: determination, courage and leadership. As part of the hero profile, one must be determined, and Odysseus certainly was. If a hero is determined, he only has one goal in mind. Even if Odysseus faced the most life-threatening situations, he would not back down. “I have a long time...the trial is coming.” (Book V, lines 229-233). Odysseus has a clear mind and he won't let anyone or anything change him. Additionally, Odysseus never doubted himself as a leader. He's had enough failures, but he didn't want to get down on himself and give up. For example, he neglected to follow the advice of his crew member, Eurylochus. Eurylochus told Odysseus not to send men to see what was on Circe's island and because he sent them anyway, they ended up being turned into pigs. Odysseus made a mistake, but that didn't stop him from continuing. Even though Odysseus failed as a leader, he was nonetheless determined to become better. Odysseus warns his crew, but he is unable to establish a connection with them. They disobey Odysseus and slaughter sheep after sheep, which ...... middle of paper ...... as suitors. “Would I play such a trick on you, dear child? It's true, it's true, as I tell you, he came! This stranger they were harassing was Odysseus. Télémakhos knew it a few days ago: keep a cool head, never betray his father until he has paid for these stupid dogs! (Book XXIII, lines 27-32). Like most heroes, Odysseus was able to use his leadership abilities to reach his beloved, Penelope. In conclusion, Odysseus conveys the qualities of a true hero. He demonstrates courage, courage and management qualities. Odysseus displays these qualities throughout the journey in which he faced many difficult places and people.
