    Although people who follow the Catholic faith in both countries recognize the Vatican's guidelines, in many areas Catholics in European countries have not waited the Vatican verdict but considered more consistent with civil laws. A good example might be the same-sex marriage law. In Luxembourg, a predominantly Catholic country, the law on same-sex marriage was adopted before the Vatican could take a position on the subject.
